Andrew Moore

Andrew Moore

Andrew joined our team in January 2012 and is currently working between our Oakhill, Goosnargh, Oakhill Kirkham and Abbey Watling Street Road Surgeries.

He grew up in Lytham St Annes and after a number of years of living away; he is now looking forward to being back in Lancashire!

Andrew graduated from Edinburgh University in 2006. Since then he has been working in a large mixed animal practice (with hospital status) in Wales where he has gained experience in a wide range of medical and surgical small animal procedures and farm veterinary work. He was also heavily involved in developing the exotic animal side of the practice.

In his spare time, Andrew likes to listen to music, play sport and explore the local countryside. Last year he even completed the three peaks challenge.

Helen Smith

Helen qualified from Edinburgh in the 1980’s and has always worked in small animal practice – for a short period in Leeds and since then in Fulwood. In addition to caring for and treating a full range of small animal patients Helen is involved in training our veterinary nurses. Over the years Helen has shared her home with a series of feline friends (and a husband) including several strays with various body parts missing or damaged, the current house mates being ‘PJ’ and ‘Rupert’.

Ian Chadwick

Ian Chadwick

Qualified from Liverpool University in July 1982. He worked for the first 3 years in a mixed rural practice in Grantham, Lincolnshire before moving to Bolton to do 100% small animal work. Ian worked for 10 weeks in a small animal and equine practice in Adelaide, South Australia whilst on a travelling sabbatical before returning to Bolton, then finally accepting a position at Abbey Veterinary Centre in 1990. He became a partner in 1997. Ian enjoys all aspects of medicine and surgery and has a special interest in orthopaedics.

Outside of work, Ian gained his private pilots licence in 2001 though the constraints of work commitments and a family life with 2 teenage children, has prevented him from keeping it current. He enjoys watching Bolton Wanderers with his son and manages the occasional round of golf. The family currently have 1 dog, 3 Goldfish and 2 Stick insects.

Ian is committed to a process of continuing improvement for both the practice premises and the staff who work there.

Laura Hartney

Laura Hartney

Laura comes to us all the way from the Rocky Mountains of Calgary, Canada.  She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Canada in 2008 and moved to Lancashire in September to be with her husband.  She joined the team at Abbey shortly after in January 2009.  She and her husband live with their three-legged cat Julius, who also braved the journey over from Canada.  In her spare time, Laura is looking forward to travelling and exploring England, Scotland and Wales and hopefully Europe as well.

Rachael Porter

Rachael Porter

Rachael joined the practice and our small animal team in January 2009. She graduated from Bristol University in 1998.

Rachael spent two years working in Australia before returning to her home town of Preston. She enjoys socialising with her friends and participating in outdoor activities.

Rachel Winder

Rachel graduated from Bristol University Veterinary School in 2004. She joined Abbey Veterinary Centre in April 2007, having previously worked in both mixed and small animal practice in the area. She is particularly interested in small animal medicine and is currently studying for the Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice. She enjoys walking, running, cooking and playing with her two lovably delinquent cats!
