Congratulations Judy!!

Abbey would like to congratulate Judy Cregg who has lost almost 10kg in just 7 months.
Judy is a 10 year old black Labrador who is a great character full of bounce and extremely friendly but unfortunately like most Labradors has a liking for food.
Judy came in to the surgery weighing 41.4kg, and although there are various options for dieting including cutting out treats, increasing exercise and the use of dietary food, in this case the vets decided on a further option which for Judy would be to go on a medication called Slentrol.
Slentrol is a prescription diet medication formulated especially for dogs. Its is a colourless, tasteless liquid that is put into dogs food once daily and it works by subduing the dogs appetite. Before any dog can go on to Slentrol, an appointment must be made to see the vet and then if appropriate the vet can prescribe Slentrol. (In most cases the dog must have been dieting with no or little signs of weight loss). This is truly a team effort as while on Slentrol the dog must attend monthly nurse checks (in this case with Angela at Watling Street Road) to be reweighed and reassessed to make sure they are on the correct dosage.
After getting down to 32kg, Judy is now off the Slentrol and this is where her owner Mr Cregg’s hard work has come in by keeping Judy at that weight. As due to the nature of Slentrol once stopped the appetite returns. With the help of the nurses at Watling Street Road and the dedication of her owner Judy now has a new lease of life.
Congratulations again to Judy and Mr Cregg.
N.B Slentrol is only produced for dogs, it does NOT work for cats or people.
